I have the honor to transmit the accompanying Return & papers for 4th. Quarter 1850.
The horse borne on this return has been out at pasturage in the Willamette Valley ever since 1849. I have not been able to get receipts for him by reason of my being at this Post, tho’ I have repeatedly attempted to get them, the horse when last heard from was in good condition; I shall endeavor to have him turned over to some Officer at Columbia Barracks and forwd. receipts next Quarter, this explains why he has remained in my hands.
